Ranston_Foster

Ranston Ray Foster is a successful graduate of the CUNY School of Professional Studies’ Certificate Program in Health Care Policy and Administration and Cornell University’s Leadership Program in Labor Studies.

Ranston started with the Department of Nutritional Service in 1994 at Metropolitan Hospital Center, was later promoted to a Clerical Associate, and finally Assistant Coordinating Manager in the Department of Central Sterile Processing. 

Since 2007, Ranston has been a Coordinating Manager Level B in the Department of Gastroenterology/Per-Op Services. In 2013, he was elected by his peers as their Shop Steward where he represented more than 100 members, advocating for their rights and representing them at disciplinary hearings and counselings. 

During his time as a Shop Steward, he has elevated his knowledge of labor relations and human resources processes, and achieved a better understanding of the overall significance of fair and equitable treatment for CWA Local 1180 members.

Currently, Ranston serves on the Local 1180 Executive Board as a Member-at-Large, where he has garnered significant knowledge in best ways to represent members. He has successfully advocated for positive changes within members’ work environments, and is proud of the Union’s dedication to fighting for workers’ rights and fair wages.

Ranston’s commitment to the members is unwavering, his support of his Union’s goals is strong, and his patience and determination to receive the best possible outcomes for the members are significant.

Ranston graduated from New York Theological Seminary (NYTS).
